Curriculum Vitae
I have more than a decade of advertising and journalistic work in Cebu City, the Philippines where I was born and raised. In 2007, I came to the United States with my family. I was hired as an Assessment Object Developer by the National Foreign Language Center (NFLC) at the University of Maryland in 2008. For professional enhancement, I enrolled at Washburn University (Topeka, KS) in 2010 for some courses in Sociology (major) and Mass Media (minor). I will be graduating this Fall 2012. I'm still professionally connected with a newspaper (Sun.Star Cebu) in my home country.
Work Experiences
I write a regular column in English and Cebuano (my mother tongue) twice a week in the op-ed page of Sun.Star Cebu (the largest English newspaper in the Philippines outside of Manila) and Sun.Star Super Balita (a sister publication in the vernacular). Although the burning issues of the day are the usual peg of my opinion pieces, I also write about cultural matters that reflect my interest in the arts: cinema, literature, music, etc.
